Portland Aerial Tram is located at the most transportation-diverse intersection in the nation. Don't want to worry about traffic and parking congestion? You'll marvel at the modes people use to access the Tram.
Traveling by transit (bus, light rail, or streetcar)? Plan a trip to or from the Tram’s South Waterfront Terminal here (Stop ID 12845).
Looking to avoid the line? The Tram is busiest during commuter rush hour. The quietest visiting hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays are also a great time to beat the crowds.
STREETCAR
NS Line stops in front of the lower tram terminal (Stop 12760) . Northbound departures are at South Whitaker and Bond. (Stop 12883). For all other streetcars, ride to South Moody and Meade and then walk 2 blocks south.
LIGHT RAIL (TRIMET MAX)
TriMet Orange Line travels from Milwaukie, Oregon to South Waterfront (Stop 13728). TriMet Yellow Line travels from North Portland, through the downtown transit mall (becoming the Orange Line) to South Waterfront (Stop 13711). Deboard any light rail line at the S Moody MAX station along the west end of Tilikum Crossing.
BUS
TriMet lines 35 and 36 (Stop 13182) drop off at South Moody and Gibbs. Lines FX2, 9 and 17 stop at the west end of Tilikum Crossing (Stop 13733 from the east; Stop 13732 from downtown). Lines 19, 43, 44 and 66 are accessible via Hooley Pedestrian Bridge at Gibbs St.
PERSONAL VEHICLE
South Waterfront is a growing central neighborhood with limited access streets. Traffic and parking can become congested. To visit by car, we recommend traveling during off-peak hours or the weekend. Transit has dedicated lanes separate from car traffic and can help you avoid traffic and parking.
Car parking: On-street metered parking is available just south of the Tram.
BIKE SHARE AND SCOOTER SHARE
The Tram is Portland's most popular biking destination and connected by several off-street paths. Don't have a bike? Biketown, Portland's city bike share, has a station right at the terminal.
PERSONAL BIKE
Bike parking: Bike valet at the Tram is free to the public via Go By Bike 5:30am to 9:30pm Monday to Friday. U-locks are recommended anywhere outside the valet.
On shared paths, we advise biking slowly and audibly when passing people walking.
WALK
The Tram is just one mile from downtown Portland and connected by several off-street paths including Tilikum Crossing.
When walking, be aware that paths shared with biking. The tram plaza is shared with streetcar. Keep children and animals close.
